Commusoft Alternative: AI Built In, Not Bolted On
Commusoft's model is modules, and that is the thing to evaluate
Commusoft is a well established UK job management platform for trades, with real depth across plumbing and heating, gas, electrical and renewables. Its own product navigation tells you how it is packaged: Sales+, Fleet+, Analytics+ and AI:den+. The plus suffix is the model. Capability arrives as modules you add.
That is not a criticism by itself. Modular pricing is honest and it lets a small firm start narrow. But it does mean the question you should ask is not whether Commusoft can do something, it is which module that something lives in, what the total looks like once you have added the ones you need, and what happens when you need a workflow that no module covers.
Commusoft does have AI, and you should compare it properly
Worth being precise, because a lot of comparison content gets this wrong: Commusoft ships an AI product, AI:den+. So the useful comparison is not presence versus absence. It is whether AI is a module beside the platform or the way the platform works, and whether it can act on your data or only summarise it.
With Fieldproxy the agents are the platform rather than a bolt-on with its own line item. That distinction shows up in what you can ask for: not just an answer, but the action taken and staged for your confirmation.
Pricing is not published, so build your own total
Commusoft does not publish prices on its pricing page. That is common for UK mid-market software and it is not a red flag on its own, but it does put the work on you. Ask for the all-in number including every module you need, the onboarding cost, and the contract length, then compare that against alternatives on the same basis.
What changes with an AI-first platform
Two things, and both are about what happens after you buy.
Agents do the coordination work
Fieldproxy ships voice and chat agents as part of the platform. You describe what needs to happen and the agent does it: build tomorrow's schedule across your engineers, reassign a sick engineer's jobs and notify the affected customers, look up a part price and add it to a quote with your markup, work out which invoices are overdue and draft the chase-ups. You confirm, the agent does the clicking.
Workflow changes do not need a module or a services engagement
Rather than choosing from packaged fields and modules, you describe the workflow change you want in plain English and the platform builds it. Think of it as Lovable for field service management: the job stages you actually use, the fields your team fills in, the checks required before a job closes, the way your quotes are structured.
For a growing trades business this is usually the difference that matters most. The process you use in 2027 will not be the process you use today, and the question is whether adapting means describing a change or buying a module.
Commusoft vs Fieldproxy at a glance
| Commusoft | Fieldproxy | |
|---|---|---|
| Published pricing | Not published, quote based | Per user, quoted |
| Packaging | Core plus paid modules (Sales+, Fleet+, Analytics+, AI:den+) | One platform |
| AI | AI:den+ module | Voice and chat agents built into the platform |
| Customization | Within the module set | Describe it in plain English |
| Core UK verticals | Plumbing and heating, gas, electrical, renewables | Multi-vertical |
| Time to live | Not published | Days |
One practical note on all of the figures below. Vendor pricing and packaging change, and some of these vendors do not publish prices at all, so treat this as a starting point for your own shortlist rather than a quote. Confirm the current numbers with each vendor.
When Commusoft is the right answer
If you are a UK plumbing, heating or gas firm that wants deep, proven, vertical-specific job management and you are comfortable buying capability as modules, Commusoft has years of track record in exactly that market and should be on your list. Look wider if you want AI that acts rather than assists, if you expect your processes to keep changing, or if you would rather not assemble a total from modules.
