Okappy Alternative: Beyond Subcontractor Networks

Okappy is one of the few that publishes real numbers

Credit where it is due. Most UK field service vendors hide pricing behind a form. Okappy publishes tiers: Growing at 39 pounds plus VAT per user per month with a minimum of 5 employees, Established at 29 pounds plus VAT per user per month with a minimum of 10 employees, and Enterprise on request with a minimum of 150 employees. All per-user figures are monthly equivalents paid yearly in advance.

Note the shape of that: the larger tier is cheaper per user, and every tier carries an employee minimum. Established adds dashboards, custom templates and inventory over Growing, and account management steps up Bronze to Silver to Gold. So the deciding factors are headcount and whether you want the dashboards and inventory.

The real differentiator is the subcontractor network

Okappy's positioning is about building and managing your network, and its pricing proves it: subcontractor licences are included at no extra cost, 5 on Growing, 10 on Established, and 1,000 on Enterprise. If a large part of your delivery runs through subcontractors rather than employees, that is a thoughtfully designed model and it is priced generously.

If your work is delivered mostly by your own engineers, that strength is not doing much for you, and the employee minimums and yearly-in-advance terms become the things you are actually signing up to.

What an AI-first alternative adds

Okappy is a competent job management platform. What it does not offer is agents that do the work or a way to reshape the software to your process without waiting for a feature.

Agents for dispatch, quoting and customer comms

Fieldproxy ships voice and chat agents as part of the platform. You describe what needs to happen and the agent does it: build tomorrow's schedule across your engineers, reassign a sick engineer's jobs and notify the affected customers, look up a part price and add it to a quote with your markup, work out which invoices are overdue and draft the chase-ups. You confirm, the agent does the clicking.

Customization past templates

Rather than choosing from packaged fields and modules, you describe the workflow change you want in plain English and the platform builds it. Think of it as Lovable for field service management: the job stages you actually use, the fields your team fills in, the checks required before a job closes, the way your quotes are structured.

Okappy's Established tier is where custom templates arrive. The distinction worth testing is between choosing a template and describing the thing you actually want.

When Okappy is the better fit

Subcontractor-heavy operations, especially if you are coordinating a network of third parties and want their licences included rather than metered. The published pricing is also genuinely easier to plan against than a quote. Look elsewhere if your delivery is mostly employees, if the employee minimums or paid-yearly terms do not suit you, or if you want AI that acts on your data.
