It targets enterprise field service organisations on the Microsoft stack with 200 or more technicians.
The strengths follow from that: tight integration with Dynamics CRM, Teams and the wider Microsoft estate, strong analytics through Power BI, and mixed reality support for remote assistance. If your company already runs on Microsoft, a lot of that comes close to free in integration terms.
Where it stops
You are locked into the Dynamics ecosystem. If you are not already running Dynamics, the all-in cost of Dynamics plus Field Service plus Power Platform is prohibitive. Implementation is long and tied to Dynamics customization patterns. And updates and customizations require Power Platform expertise, which is not accessible to an operations team that just wants a field changed.

When Dynamics is the right choice
You already run Dynamics CRM, Teams and Power BI, you have Power Platform capability in house or on retainer, and you have 200 or more technicians. Then the integration is genuinely valuable and the cost is incremental rather than additional. If you are not already a Microsoft shop, you are buying an ecosystem to get a field service module.
