Short answer
No. ChatGPT and Claude have no record of your jobs, customers or technicians, no technician mobile app and no way to send a crew anywhere. Connected to field service software through MCP, they can do much of the office work on top of it: answer questions from live data, plan and re-plan the schedule, draft follow-ups and invoices reminders, and, with Fieldproxy, change the software itself. The field service platform stays the system of record; the assistant becomes the way people use it.
What ChatGPT or Claude alone can do
Without a connection they can write a job description, draft a customer email, summarise a pasted spreadsheet or suggest a schedule you type in. Useful, but every answer is only as current as what you paste, and nothing it says reaches your team or your customers.
What they can do connected to field service software
Through an MCP server the assistant works on live records, under the permissions you set. With Fieldproxy that includes:
- Daily briefings: late jobs, unassigned work, anything overdue.
- Dispatch: spread jobs across technicians, plan routes, apply the schedule after you confirm.
- Money: completed jobs with no invoice, AR ageing, quotes that went quiet.
- Comms: draft email and SMS from templates, sent only after you confirm.
- Building: new fields, screens and automations, in a sandbox.
What still needs the platform
The technician's offline app, GPS and sign-off, photo storage, payments, the customer portal, messaging compliance and the audit trail all live in the field service software. The assistant is the front door, not the building.
