How do you dispatch technicians from one schedule board?
Put every technician's day on one board, with jobs as blocks and unassigned work beside it. In Fieldproxy you drag a job onto another technician to reassign it, undo with one click, get a suggested technician for each unassigned job, and check the week and capacity.
This walkthrough shows the Fieldproxy schedule board at Summit Home Services, a demo HVAC, plumbing and electrical company: the day by technician, reassigning a job by drag and drop with Undo, suggested technicians for unassigned work, the week view and capacity.
Chapters
Summit Home Services is a demo company with fictional customers. Every screen is the real Fieldproxy product; some sequences are sped up.
Step by step
Open the day board
Every technician is a row with their jobs as blocks, hours booked against the day and a service clock on each visit. Unassigned and on-hold work is listed on the left.
Drag to reassign
Drop a job on another technician's row to reassign it; drag its edges to change the time. A confirmation shows at the bottom.
Undo if needed
Click Undo on the confirmation to put the job back where it was.
Get a suggested technician
Click Suggest to see the best-fit technician for each unassigned job, with a score and the reason (skills, distance), then Assign.
Check the week
The week view shows each day side by side, with hours per technician and time off.
Watch capacity
Capacity shows booked hours against available hours for two to four weeks; over-booked days are red.
Questions people ask
- What is dispatching software?
- Software that shows every technician's schedule in one place so the office can assign, move and balance jobs, instead of phone calls, spreadsheets and whiteboards.
- Can I reassign a job by drag and drop?
- Yes. Drag the job onto another technician's row; drag a block's edge to change its start or end. A confirmation with Undo appears right away.
- How does it choose a technician for an unassigned job?
- Suggest scores each technician for the job and shows why, such as matching skills and distance from home or the previous stop. You still click Assign.
- Can I see who is over-booked?
- Yes. The capacity view compares booked hours with each technician's available hours by day and marks over-booked days in red.
- How long does it take to set up?
- Fieldproxy builds your own field service management system around your workflows, and it can be live within a day.
- Is Summit Home Services a real company?
- No. Summit is a demo company with fictional customers. The screens are the real Fieldproxy product, recorded live and sped up.

- 0:00How do you dispatch a whole team from one screen? Put every technician's day on one board, then drag jobs where they need to go. Here's how it looks at a demo heating, plumbing and electrical company.
- 0:14Dispatch shouldn't mean five phone calls, a spreadsheet and a whiteboard nobody updates.
- 0:19Here every technician is a row: their jobs as blocks across the day, hours booked against an eight-hour day, and whether they're on the clock.
- 0:28Each visit carries its service clock, so late work stands out in red.
- 0:33And anything without a technician waits on the left, where nobody can miss it.
- 0:38Plans change all day. A tech runs long, a customer moves a visit, someone goes home sick. To move a job, grab it and drop it on another technician's row.
- 0:49Gary Stevens' furnace tune-up is now Jake Sullivan's, in the same ten o'clock slot, and the board confirms the move at the bottom. Drag a block's edge, and you change its start or end the same way.
- 1:01Changed your mind? One click on Undo, and it's back with Tom, exactly as it was.
- 1:07For the jobs nobody is on yet, click Suggest. Each one gets the best-fit technician with a score and the reason: the right skills, and how far they are from home or from their previous stop. Tom Becker scores eighty-six for this tune-up.
- 1:21Take the suggestion with one click, assign them all at once, or ignore it and drag the job yourself.
- 1:29Switch to the week, and every day sits side by side: the unassigned row on top, each technician's hours per day, and time off, like Priya's vacation on Wednesday.
- 1:38You can see which days are full before you promise a customer a slot.
- 1:44And capacity shows two weeks of load at a glance: each technician's booked hours against the hours they actually have. Green is healthy, red is over-booked, and right now three are in the red, like Leah Kim with twelve hours on an eight-hour Monday.
- 2:00One board, every technician, and every change one drag away, with Undo when you need it. Get your own custom field service management within a day, tailored to your workflows. Start at fieldproxy dot ai.
